What is Freemasonry ?

Lodge St John 174 Dunning Name Board

Integrity

We say what we mean and we keep our promises.

Truth, which is represented by the divine, in its multiplicity and diversity as understood by all men

Honesty

We pride ourselves on openness, about what being a Freemason means for us.

While the general consensus among those not in the craft is an idea of secrecy, our membership tends to be open and more than willing to discuss the craft.

Tolerance

We respect the opinions of others and behave with understanding towards them.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on any far ranging topic but one should strive for understanding, make an effort to reach common ground and promote harmony.

Kindness

Although our families come first, we believe in playing a key role in our communities and give time and money to charitable ventures.

Every Mason is obligated to relieve the suffering of any Master Mason they encounter who is in dire need and if in their power to do so, to the best of their ability, also to act charitably towards society, giving of ourselves economically, physically, and mentally.

Fairness

We treat everyone as equal – we listen to others, explore any differences and look for common ground.

One of the foundations of the craft is that all men are equal, while a hierarchy is nesessary, all men in the end are the same.
